Starting today, lawsuits will be filed against all ruling Civil Contract (CC) party members who to spread disinformation. Marianna Ghahramanyan, the spokesperson for the Strong Armenia party, wrote about this on Facebook on Wednesday.

Ghahramanyan wrote as follows: “A warning to the members of the small group who spread lies, falsifications, and disinformation on a daily basis about the leader of the Strong Armenia bloc, Samvel Karapetyan, and the board member of the Strong Armenia party, Narek Karapetyan.

Yesterday, you expressed yourself, spread your nonsense as much as possible. Now let's reveal another election proposal.

So, starting today, lawsuits will be filed against all CC members who managed to spread disinformation.

The money that [these] CC members will have to pay for the lies they spread will be sent to the mental health center Sevan for the renovation of rooms.

In a strong Armenia, those with mental disorders, those who shove women will have quality treatment and free medicines during the day instead of a position.

Our legal team is already preparing lawsuits.

Dear CC members, don't be sorry. That money will not be sent to waste.”

As reported earlier, National Assembly speaker Alen Simonyan on Tuesday publicized a document and wrote: “Is Narek Karapetyan a citizen of the RF [i.e. the Russian Federation?” The document attached to the post contains data on a legal entity, in which “RF citizen” is written across the name “Narek Karapetyan.”

Shortly after that post, Narek Karapetyan responded as follows: “Alen Robertovich [Simonyan], don’t do such things. I am not a citizen of Russia, I have never had any other citizenship except RA [(Republic of Armenia)] citizenship, I have lived in Russia less in my life than in England or Switzerland.”

The Central Electoral Commission of Armenia later addressed the issue, noting that it had checked the documents of Narek Karapetyan, the first candidate on the electoral list of the Strong Armenia bloc, about being only a citizen of Armenia during the registration of MP candidates.

And today the Investigative Committee of Armenia issued a statement, noting that Narek Karapetyan intentionally had concealed information about having or having had foreign citizenship. Based on the report, the Yerevan Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia initiated criminal proceedings under Section 1 of Article 449 of the Criminal Code—i.e. concealing information that impedes the acquisition or retention of the status of an official. An investigation is underway, the Investigative Committee added, in particular.
