Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin said that Moscow hopes to preserve stable relations with Armenia amid the upcoming elections in the country. He told journalists this after a meeting of a special working group of the Russian Security Council.

According to him, Russia respects the Armenian people and hopes that, amid the increasingly tense pre-election situation in Armenia, society will keep a “cool head” and will not allow relations with Moscow to deteriorate.

“We very much hope that in this increasingly turbulent atmosphere surrounding the upcoming elections, Armenian society will not allow anyone to drag its country into a confrontation with Russia,” the diplomat noted.
