Gasoline and diesel fuel prices will remain high for a long time amid the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. French economy and finance Minister Roland Lescure expressed such a view on BFM Business television.
According to him, even if the Strait of Hormuz opens tomorrow, it will still take some time for oil tankers to reach the French coast.
Also, Lescure emphasized that the current situation once again proves that France must get rid of its dependence on oil and accelerate the transition to the use of electricity.
Due to the ongoing blockade of the Strait of Hormuz and the resulting supply problems, the price of gasoline in France has increased by about 19%, and diesel fuel has increased by about 36%. And the price of a liter of diesel at the country’s gas stations has reached 2.5 euros, which is an absolute record in the last 20 years.
