No official notification has been received regarding the temporary ban on the export of flowers from Armenia to Russia. Economy minister Gevorg Papoyan announced this at a press briefing after the cabinet meeting of the Armenian government on Thursday.
The minister noted that he could not comment on the relevant restrictions. According to Papoyan, specialists from the Russian Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision (Rosselkhoznadzor) have already arrived in Armenia and are conducting inspections at Armenian companies that were previously banned from entering the Russian market. In case of a positive conclusion, the possibility of export will be restored.
“I think that these are current working issues. I do not exclude that there are forces in Armenia that are trying to create a situation where Armenian producers may encounter problems in Russia. We regularly receive such information. However, in parallel with that, we manage to resolve these issues,” said the member of the Armenian government, and cites as an example the problems with Russia’s Wildberries and Ozon marketplaces, which, according to him, have been resolved.
He emphasized that the situation is under control, active work is being carried out with Russian partners. So, in general, no serious problems are expected.
Rosselkhoznadzor has imposed temporary restrictions—starting from Friday—on the import of flowers from Armenia to Russia, until the completion of inspections of Armenia’s respective greenhouses and the summing up of the results.
