Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Armenia, Artur Poghosyan, on Friday received the recently appointed Iranian ambassador to Armenia, Khalil Shirgholami, Armenian News-NEWS.am was informed by the Investigative Committee of Armenia.

First, the chairman of the Investigative Committee congratulated the Iranian ambassador on his appointment, and wished him success in carrying out his responsible mission.

During the meeting, Artur Poghosyan touched upon the efficiency of information exchange and execution of investigative inquiries within the framework of criminal proceedings regarding citizens of the two countries.

The Iranian Ambassador, for his part, expressed gratitude for the constructive cooperation, emphasizing that the investigation in various criminal proceedings—concerning counterfeit banknotes, prohibited medicines, etc.—is carried out in a short time.

The chairman of the Investigative Committee of Armenia emphasized that the proceedings related to foreign citizens are under his direct supervision and that of the deputy coordinator of the sector, and also upon his instruction, they are investigated in the shortest possible time.

During the meeting, the joint work carried out in combating transnational crime—in particular, drug trafficking—was also discussed.
